Lions quarterback Stafford congratulates Saints quarterback Brees after the Saints beat the Lions in their NFL football game in New OrleansReuters

With matching 10-6 records in Week 17, I finished the regular season seven games behind Rosenthal.

But there are still 11 games to go.? (Counting the Pro Bowl, there are 12.)

So I?m saying there?s a chance. . . .

For the regular season, Rosenthal is 169-87.? I?m 162-94.

Bengals at Texans

Florio?s take:? With neither team having any realistic shot at advancing beyond the division round, this one feels like a bowl game that, fortunately for the Texans, is being played on their home field.? The Texans have little playoff experience, but they get to play another team that doesn?t have much more.? With a flu bug possibly snaking through the Cincinnati locker room, there?s a chance that Bengals fans will be feeling nauseous by Saturday night.

Florio?s pick:? Texans 23, Bengals 17.

Rosenthal?s take: There?s a ?happy to be there? vibe to both of these teams. But only the Bengals are lucky to even make the playoffs. They can?t beat quality teams. Houston?s defense is more dangerous and more balanced. The Texans running game is superior too. Throw in one of the best home atmospheres in the league, and the Texans may win going away.

Rosenthal?s pick: Texans 23, Bengals 13.

Lions at Saints

Florio?s take:? Through the first eight games of the 2011 season, Calvin Johnson and Matthew Stafford repeatedly connected, with 11 touchdowns and 804 yards.? After the Lions? bye, teams spent more time blanketing Johnson.? When defenses took him away, Matthew Stafford had nowhere else to go ? especially without a running game.? Eventually, Stafford decided to throw it to Johnson even if Johnson wasn?t open.? In the last three games, Johnson and Stafford have connected for 530 yards and four scores.? The Saints beat the Lions by 14 points during the period when Stafford wasn?t throwing it to Johnson when Johnson appeared to be covered.? And so, partially under the influence of a desire to catch Rosenthal and partially under the influence of one or more potent beverages, I?ve got a feeling that the Lions will make the last three-pointer in the basketball game that will unfold on the floor of the Superdome.

Florio?s pick:? Lions 44, Saints 41.

Rosenthal?s take: This isn?t the matchup Detroit wanted. Matthew Stafford struggles against the blitz; the Saints love to blitz. You beat New Orleans by running; Detroit can?t run. The vaunted Detroit defensive line is no longer a difference maker. This is like an Arena League game for New Orleans? defense. Get three stops and they win.

Rosenthal?s pick: Saints 44, Lions 31.

Falcons at Giants

Florio?s take:? So Eli Manning once again is elite, even though Victor Cruz has saved Eli?s salsa with big catches ? and runs ? in the last two weeks.? And the Giants have some Super Bowl buzz, given the memories of what they accomplished back in 2007.? But these Giants have a bad habit of showing up only in huge moments, and there?s nothing about a wild-card visit from the Falcons that will make the Giants feel like they did in the past two games against the Jets and Cowboys.? If ? and it could be a big if ? the Falcons resist the urge to justify trading up for Julio Jones and/or to prove that Matt Ryan is a big-time quarterback and simply run the ball and run the ball and run the ball some more, they can get the Giants on their heels and infest MetLife Stadium with the same funk that existed when the Redskins, Seahawks, and Eagles won there.

Florio?s pick:? Falcons 24, Giants 21.

Rosenthal?s take: The Falcons traded up for Julio Jones to get more explosive on offense and they were more explosive down the stretch. The Giants defense is prone to giving up big plays. This just feels like a game the Falcons have been building towards for a few years. It?s their time. At least for one week.

Rosenthal?s pick: Falcons 24, Giants 21.

Steelers at Broncos

Florio?s take:? If Lions-Saints is destined to be a basketball game, a hockey match could be breaking out in Broncoland.? The Steelers are sluggish on the road, losing in Baltimore, Houston, and San Francisco, and barely winning in Indianapolis, Kansas City, and Cleveland.? But the Broncos aren?t the Ravens, Texans, or 49ers.? And the Steelers, despite any real or imagined or embellished injuries, will find a way to shut down the Denver running game, and in turn ensure that Air Tebow will be nothing more than a paper airplane.

Florio?s pick:? Steelers 13, Broncos 9.

Rosenthal?s take: If the Chiefs and Browns can keep things close against Pittsburgh, the Broncos can make this a game. When Tebow Time arrives, however, the Steelers defense seems more likely to score a touchdown than this dreadful Denver passing attack.

Rosenthal?s pick:? Steelers 16, Broncos 10.

PSU president to discuss scandal with alums

Penn State University President Rodney Erickson will be in Pittsburgh next week to take questions from alumni concerned about the child sex abuse scandal during the first of three town hall-style meetings.

Next Wednesday's 7 p.m. session planned for the Doubletree by Hilton, One Bigelow Square, Downtown, is the first of three gatherings for alums scheduled for consecutive nights in Pittsburgh, Greater Philadelphia and New York City.

Mr. Erickson will be at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge, 1160 First Ave., King of Prussia, on Jan. 12 and at the Marriott Downtown, 85 West St. at Albany St., in Manhattan on Jan. 13, university officials said Tuesday.

Those wishing to attend must register in advance given seating constraints, and walk-ins will be allowed only if space permits, the officials said. Each session is sponsored by the Penn State Alumni Association.

Mr. Erickson, in office for two months, has vowed open communication with faculty, staff, students and other university constituencies as Penn State attempts to repair its image. He and a panel of Penn State administrators attended an emotional town hall-style session with students on the main University Park campus on Nov. 30, nearly a month after the arrest of former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky on child sex abuse charges.

"Alumni have justifiable concerns and questions about the crisis that Penn State is facing," Roger L. Williams, executive director of the Penn State Alumni Association, said in a prepared statement. "While we have heard from and responded to thousands of alumni e-mails and phone calls, we thought alumni would welcome the opportunity to have their questions answered face-to-face by our new president. And President Erickson is eager to talk with alumni."

The scandal led to the firing of Penn State's famed football coach Joe Paterno and the resignation of the school's president Graham Spanier. Both faced criticism over the university's failure to report to law enforcement allegations that Mr. Sandusky sexually assaulted a boy in a campus shower in 2002.

In all, Mr. Sandusky faces 52 counts of sexual abuse involving 10 children over more than a decade.

Two other Penn State administrators were charged with perjury and failing to report allegations of child sex abuse.

Each of the 90-minute alumni sessions starts at 7 p.m. Penn State said those wishing to attend can register at www.alumni.psu.edu/events, and can have questions addressed by e-mail at alumni-events@psu.edu or by calling the Alumni Association at 800-548-LION (5466).

Perry pushes his status as a conservative outsider

(AP) ? Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry, campaigning in Iowa's heavily conservative northwest corner the day before Tuesday's caucuses, urged conservatives to support one of their own who hasn't been part of the Washington and Wall Street establishments.

Perry continued to have trouble with the details as he addressed potential supporters in a Sioux City hotel lobby Monday afternoon. In challenging rival Rick Santorum's support for home-state projects funded with federal money, the Texas governor referred to "the Bridge to Nowhere in Arizona." Actually, the project that became a symbol of runaway pork-barrel spending was planned for Alaska.

He got that detail right later in Carroll as his campaign bus rumbled toward a caucus-eve rally in Perry, Iowa. But the error underscored concerns about Perry's mastery of basic facts.

During one debate, he pledged to eliminate three federal agencies but failed to remember which ones he was talking about. He confused Iraq and Iran during a town hall meeting in South Carolina, and last weekend, he confused the Medicare and Medicaid programs.

That's part of the reason Perry has tried to make the focus of his speeches his rivals' weaknesses.

Perry singled out Santorum, whose recent rise in polling appears to come at the expense of the Texas governor and Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn. The three are widely seen as competing for the more conservative caucus-goers, particularly evangelicals driven by social issues, in the contest to pick a challenger to President Barack Obama.

"He's raised the debt limit more than Obama's raised the debt limit," Perry said of Santorum, pointing to the former Pennsylvania congressman and senator's eight votes to increase the nation's borrowing power.

Turning to another rival, Rep. Ron Paul, Perry said the Texas congressman's foreign policy was tantamount to "appeasement."

"We will be living in the 1930s again," he said. "Let me tell you, when Ron Paul is further to the left on foreign policy than Barack Obama, that ought to tell you something. That is a dangerous situation."

Perry challenged his rivals' potential and cited his own record as Texas' longest-serving governor in arguing for his candidacy.

"Why would you settle for anything other than an authentic conservative who will fight for your views and values and not make an apology for them, not one time?" he asked. "Are we going to replace a Democrat insider with a Republican insider and expect to get any change in Washington, D.C.?"

Continuing his core argument that he has experience creating jobs and dealing with issues that face the nation, he said: "It's easy to get up and say, 'You know, gee, I wish I'd have been on the field, I would have run that touchdown in.' ... We done it in Texas."

The race remains fluid and Iowans are still shopping for candidates.

"I think he's an excellent candidate, but I'm still not decided," said Paul Massey, a 65-year-old eyeglass salesman from Sioux City who visited Perry. "He is saying what I want to hear and he is sincere for sure. But I want to make sure I vote for and caucus for someone who is a winner."

Zooey Deschanel finds music a (Pooh) bear necessity (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) ? Writing a song for a Disney animated film puts a songwriter into a long and legendary line that has produced 30 nominations and 10 wins going back to "When You Wish Upon a Star" in 1940.

And writing a song for a "Winnie the Pooh" movie is just as daunting a task, because it requires a songwriter to follow in the footsteps of Richard and Robert Sherman, who penned the well-known "Pooh" theme song and also wrote "Chim Chim Cher-ee," "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious," "It's a Small World" and "I Wan'na Be Like You," among many others.

"The tradition of music in Disney animated films is pretty spectacular. But I tried not to think about it, because I might be overwhelmed if I did," said actress and singer-songwriter Zooey Deschanel, who couldn't exactly ignore that history when she was drafted to contribute to this year's Disney version of the A.A. Milne stories.

Her initial task, after all, was to record a new version of the Sherman brothers' theme song. When that went well, she was asked to write and record an end-credits song, which turned out to be "So Long," one of the film's two Oscar entries. And after that, she was asked to contribute vocals to other songs in the film ... all while finishing a tour with her band, She and Him, and getting ready to begin filming her new TV series, "The New Girl."

"It kind of happened in little bits and pieces over the course of the year," Deschanel told TheWrap.

"That's the thing with music for me. Songwriting was always something that I did in my private time as a release, very much on my own. It didn't come out into the world until later in my life. But now, as my schedule has gotten so weird and so busy, I feel like I need to keep going back to it."

Deschanel first got involved with "Winnie the Pooh" when music supervisor Tom McDougall showed her a 10-minute segment that had been cut to a She and Him song, and asked if she'd record the title song. She enlisted bandmate Matt Ward (who goes by M. Ward) to produce, and settled on an approach to a song whose original version was recorded by a large chorus of anonymous singers.

"I think there was something that Matt and I saw in that song that we could pull out, that wasn't really focused on in the original recording," she said. "That was the warmth and the intimacy of the song.

We wanted it to feel very warm and sweet. I felt like it should welcome people into the story."

Her Oscar entry "So Long," though, ushers viewers out of the story through its placement in the final credits. "They showed me a rough cut of the movie, so I knew what was leading up to that song," she said. "I knew that I wanted to write a love song, but about friendship love."

Her models, she said, came from albums she loved both as a kid and as an adult: Harry Nilsson's "The Point," Carole King's "Really Rosie" and the compilation "Free to Be ... You and Me."

"I listened to all of those again," she said. "They all had classic chord progressions and catchy melodies with good lyrical hooks and very strong choruses. I wanted a song that was upbeat and made you feel happy walking out of the theater, and also one that kids would enjoy."

The discipline, she added, was dramatically different from writing for her own band, in which she's free to tackle any subject and take any approach.

"There's something overwhelming about being able to write about anything, which I can do in She and Him," she said. "This was like cracking a code. I had to think, 'How do I accomplish all these things for the movie, how do I tell the story without getting too literal or writing something totally off-topic?'

"But once I did crack the code, it was inspiring. And the movie people pretty much let me do my thing. They were extremely cool about letting me have my creative moment with the song."

So far, she adds, there's just one additional thing she'd like out of the experience -- and it's not an Oscar nomination, but a face-to-face with her predecessors in the "Winnie the Pooh" songwriting gig.

"I haven't met the Sherman brothers yet," she says. "I would love to, I'm such a fan."

Rutgers Beats Florida 85-83 In Double Overtime

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- On the surface, it appeared No. 10 Florida simply didn't finish off Rutgers.

The Gators blew a seven-point lead in the final 3 minutes of regulation and a three-point lead with less than 20 seconds to go in the first overtime before falling to Rutgers 85-83 in double overtime on Thursday.

Florida coach Billy Donovan wasn't interested in letting the late collapses serve as the reason the Gators' five-game losing streak came to an end against one of the lesser teams in the Big East Conference.

Donovan said Florida (10-3) stopped playing long before that. They opened the game with a 14-5 spurt and then stopped moving the ball and looking for each other.

"I don't think that we were very good on offense," Donovan said, adding that the performance came just a week after his team played an outstanding game against Florida State. "Their kids played the right way and I don't think that our guys played the right way."

While not a big fan of learning from a loss, Donovan felt this game could help his team down the road.

"Our team needs to go through this to reach our full potential, as difficult as that may be," he said. "It's bigger for me than just this game, it's about us getting better."

Rutgers (8-5) was the team that really improved Thursday after struggling much of the season.

Freshman Eli Carter led the way with a career-high 31 points, hitting the go-ahead basket in the second overtime. He also nailed a late 3-pointer in the first overtime to put the Scarlet Knights in position for their biggest win since knocking off No. 9 Villanova at home last season.

Erving Walker had a chance to tie the game for the Gators in the final seconds, but his off-balance attempt from the foul line hit off the rim.

Scarlet Knights fans stormed the court to celebrate in a game billed as the return of former Rutgers star and current Gator Mike Rosario to Piscataway.

"When you're younger and you dream of playing college basketball and you see everybody storm the floor, and for me to be in it was definitely a blessing," said Rutgers freshman Jerome Seagears, who added 13 points. "The floor was shaking it was so crazy. I thought Godzilla was coming through. They put their pants on just like we put our pants on, so in that case they can be beat. And tonight we did that as a team. This is the biggest win of my life.

Dane Miller added 16 points and Myles Mack had 14 for Rutgers, which won its fourth straight game.

Kenny Boynton matched his season high with 26 points for Florida. Bradley Beal added 15, and Erik Murphy had 14 points and eight rebounds for Florida, which was playing its first game at the loud and intimidating Rutgers Athletic Center.

Carter, whose previous high was 21 points, put the Scarlet Knights ahead for good at 80-78 with a shot in the lane. He was fouled on the play but missed the free throw.

After Beal missed a drive on the left side and Boynton missed a 3-point attempt, Carter scored inside again for an 82-78 edge.

Beal cut the Gators' deficit to a point on a 3-pointer with 1:18 to go, but Mack came right back with a 3-pointer with 55 seconds left for an 85-81 lead.

A floater by Walker with 44.8 seconds left cut the margin to a basket and Florida got a final shot when Rutgers was called for a shot clock violation with 8.7 seconds left.

Rutgers knocked the ball out of bounds in the backcourt with 4.3 seconds left and Walker could not connect after taking the inbound pass and driving to the foul line for his final shot.

Rutgers forced the first overtime by rallying from a 7-point deficit in the final 2:48 of regulation and the came from three points down in the first overtime with Carter tying the game at 76 with a 3-pointer with 18.2 seconds to play.

Florida turned the ball over in the waning seconds and Mack's 40-footer at the buzzer wasn't close.

The Scarlet Knights trailed 64-57 late in regulation before scoring the final seven points, aided by two Gators turnovers. Mack started the comeback with a 3-pointer, Carter scored in the lane and Miller tied the game with 45.7 seconds to go with a layup.

After Walker's drive down the lane with about 15 seconds left hit nothing, the Scarlet Knights blew a chance to win. Mack seemed to lose track of time and his off-balance shot never had a chance.

"Obviously you never like losing, but we've had some games this year that we've been extremely explosive on offense and we've had a couple games that we haven't been," Donovan said. "I just don't think that on the offensive end we maximized each other."

How many of you combine taskbar buttons on Windows 7?

It really depends on how you use Windows 7 for which option may work best for you.

Like me, I usually have so many things opened at once, it's not even funny. For example, 10 tabs in IE9, a few virtual machines, and a few other programs. There just wouldn't be enough room on the taskbar for all of them without them being grouped. "Always combined" is just more convenient for me.
